Navratri is a Hindu festival celebrated nine nights in honor of the Supreme Goddess Durga. In Sanskrit,' Nav' means ' Nine ' and ' Ratri ' means ' Night, 'so it is nine nights of celebration.

Why do we Celebrate Navratri Festival?

It is believed that goddess Durga battled with the demon Mahishasura(the evil) to restore peace and Dharma. She was successful, and her success is celebrated every year through the Durga Puja.

Navratri is a Hindu festival celebrated nine nights in honor of the Supreme Goddess Durga. In Sanskrit,' Nav' means ' Nine ' and ' Ratri ' means ' Night, 'so it is nine nights of celebration. It is celebrated in the last nine days of the month of Ashwin (September or October) when the moon enters the Shukla Paksha.

Day 1- Sep 26th, (Monday) White

The first color is white color which is like peace, innocence, and positivity.

Goddess Brahmacharini stands for love and loyalty.

The second color is Red, the most powerful color of the nine colors of Navratri. Red is the color of the goddess kali. It associates strength, power, and fierceness. Day 3- Sep 28th, (Wednesday) Royal Blue

The Third color is Royal Blue which is most favorite of many people

This color is used to celebrate Goddess Kushmanda, also known as Ashtabhuja Devi, because of her eight hands. It is said that she created the world with her smile and her name means warm energy + cosmic egg. Wearing blue-colored clothes and worshiping this Goddess during Navratri is considered to improve health, wealth, and strength.

Day 4 - Sep 29th, (Thursday) Yellow

The fourth color is Yellow. This color is of learning and knowledge, and this is one of the Navratri colors that is embraced fervently during this festival. This is the color of Goddess Skandmata, who is the mother of Lord Karthikeya (Muruga).

You can decorate your puja room with yellow flowers and can use haldi on this. You can apply Haldi on your skin and while cooking food.

Day 5 - Sep 30th, (Friday) Green

The fifth color is Green which is symbolized the new beginning, Growth, and fertility.

Green is the color of mother nature, and goddess Katyayani is celebrated with this color too.

You can wear green clothes on this day and have blessings from the Goddess.

Day 6 - Oct 1st, (Saturday) Grey

The sixth color is Grey which is a sober and elegant hue. 

Grey is used to celebrate the godness of the Goddess Kalaratri. She is the seventh form of Goddess Parvati and is considered the destructor of everything evil in the world.

You can wear Grey on this day to remove all the negative things from your life.

Day 7 - Oct 2nd, (Sunday) Orange

The seventh name in the Navratri colors is Orange. This is a very beautiful color and this color is associated with warmth, energy, and fire.

Goddess Shailputri is celebrated with the color orange. You can decorate your puja room with orange flowers.

Day 8 - Oct 3rd, (Monday) Peacock Green

The eighth color is Peacock Green 

Goddess Siddhidhatri is celebrated on this day. Siddhi means supernatural power, and dhatri means the giver. So, she is the giver of supernatural powers to human beings. She blesses people with spiritual powers.You can wear peacock green color dress and take the blessings from goddess.

Day 9 - October 4th, (Tuesday) Pink

The ninth color is Pink 

The final day is for Mata Siddhidatri. She depicts compassion and purity and pink colour is considered auspicious on this day as it depicts hope, self-refinement and social upliftment.You can wear Pink color on this day and seeks the blessings from the goddess.

Things we should do in Navratri

The house should be Properly neat and clean.

The person who is doing puja should take a bath early in the morning 

The first puja should always be performed to Ganesh

Next, puja should be offered to Matrika, Lokpal, Navagraha, and Varuna.

No alcohol, smoking, Paan, or non-veg should be eaten during the nine days of Navratri.

Offer water to your animals and the people around you. This is considered good during Chaitra Navratri, which happens in summer.

You have to make your mindset that in these nine days, you have to control your anger and not to fight with anyone and have a peaceful nine days.

Things should be followed during Fasting in Navratri

You can keep fast all nine days by consuming water and fruits 

You should only eat vegetarian food during the nine days of Navratri

The best way to do fasting is you can eat a small portion of food during this period

Most people eat fried dishes like Sabudana vada, potato fries, numerous vrat fried foods, various types of puris, kheer, laddoos, and other sweets from temples containing high calories, and a person ends up taking in more calories. 

You can eat salad, fruits, milk, fresh juice, lassi, and curd during a short interval.

Most of us go to work, and females do household work, so for this activity, proper nutrition should be taken or else you can. Fasting and working causes dehydration, fatigue, weakness, stomach related disorders.
